Program Eligibility
We welcome applications from artists across the spectrum of professional experience, from those that have not yet produced a project or received funding for their work, to those that have been working for decades. We accept applications for both temporary projects led by individuals and developing organizations with ongoing activities. While the great majority of our members live and work in the Bay Area, we do sponsor a small number of projects in other locations.

Application Evaluation Criteria
Intersection will consider projects for Incubator Membership if they are:
  • Arts related
  • Serving charitable purposes and non-commercial in nature
  • Planning to seek funds from charitable sources such as foundations or individual donors (no project funding may come from investors)
  • Serious in intent and well-planned
  • Able to show experience in their medium in line with their project plans
  • Able to propose fundraising and implementation strategies
  • Strongly committed to the project director?s personal involvement
  • Showing potential for future development

Intersection gives us way more credibility than we have on our own. - Antonia Blue, Kitchen Sink Magazine

Application Process
Applications are typically due by the 15th of each month, and reviewed within 30 days.

Projects seeking sponsorship must submit the following materials: Upon receipt, the application is reviewed by Intersection's staff to determine whether the project is charitable and furthers Intersection's tax-exempt purposes. An interview is then arranged with the project?s representative(s), providing an opportunity for both Intersection and the project to explore the appropriateness of the relationship. Changes to the budget or scope of the project may be requested before final submission to Intersection?s Board of Directors. Final approval must come from a vote by Intersection's Board at their next scheduled meeting, typically convened in the first week of each month.
Upon final approval, the project is contacted by Intersection and an orientation meeting is scheduled with the project's representative(s), typically during the third week of the month. At this time, a contract is signed between the project and Intersection. This contract sets out the terms and conditions that apply to the project's use of funds. A single individual is designated as the legal representative of the project.
There is no fee to apply for admission to the Intersection Incubator. If your project is accepted into the program, a registration fee of $40 is due at the time of contract-signing. Contracts are signed for a duration of approximately one year, at which time a new contract must be signed and a renewal fee paid.

Being accepted into the fiscal sponsorship program was wonderful news for us. It has given us the confidence to keep going. - Peter Ashlock, Nut Hill Productions
