Community EngagementEducation and Community EngagementThe Education and Community Engagement Programs at Intersection seek to promote community and personal enrichment through the arts by providing audiences, art makers, and the community with direct avenues for engagement in the artistic and civic process. We aim to foster cultural and historical understanding and provide context between art and the communities and societies we live in and help to build. By providing opportunities to engage at every touch point, social relevancy of art becomes deeper and diversity becomes reality. At Intersection, art is not just something to be experienced; art is tool to promote dialogue and to help us engage with the world around us. Our Education and Community Engagement Programs include:
THE INTERSECTION INSTITUTE The Intersection Institute provides opportunities for people to engage in an interactive exploration of the process of creating new art. The unique curriculum includes master classes, artist talks, tours, films, lectures, workshops, special events, and opportunities to perform, present and interact with the ongoing array of multidisciplinary arts programming Intersection supports. The Intersection Institute cultivates artistic and informative environments where personal and collective ideas and projects generate larger, more inclusive worldviews and broader aesthetic, social, political, and cultural perspectives.
Our educational programs are suitable for all ages and are available to educators, students, community groups, artists and non-artists with all levels of skill and experience. For a comprehensive list of classes and workshops available through the Intersection Institute, click here.
OPEN PROCESS SERIES The Open Process Series emphasizes the infinite possibilities that exist within the creative process and integrates the artistic process with a parallel community-based process that often includes partnerships, community storytelling and writing projects, and other methods for reaching and involving new people during the new play/performance development process. The series, which includes readings, discussions, forums, story-telling projects, community events and more, is designed to share work as it is being shaped and encourage new perspectives and ideas.
INTERSECTION LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM The Intersection Leadership Training Program is a year-round, highly regarded internship program with competitive enrollment. We offer comprehensive four-month internships including hands-on participation in producing, administering and promoting multidisciplinary arts activities. This program is designed to offer those passionate about the arts the opportunity to become a key member of the Intersection team. <more>
