About Intersection

Intersection provides an extensive arts Incubation program, fiscal sponsorship, workshops and classes, community partnerships, literary awards and artists residencies to Bay Area artists and other organizations in our community.

The Intersection Incubator provides its members with assistance in funding, developing, and promoting their artistic work. A full program of services and partnerships is available, including fiscal sponsorship, continuing education, networking opportunities, access to consultants, and resources for fundraising. Through fiscal sponsorship in particular, the program encourages funding agencies and contributors to take risks in funding new projects and emerging artists, ensuring that funds are well-managed and spent according to the funder's guidelines. Currently the Intersection Incubator provides support to more than 100 art projects and organizations across numerous disciplines and levels of experience, involving hundreds of artists and thousands of audience members each year.

Intersection for the Arts also administers the Joseph Henry Jackson, James Duval Phelan, and Mary Tanenbaum Awards . These highly esteemed literary awards are offered annually to promising young California writers.

Intersection's workshops and classes are suitable for all ages and are available to educators, students, community groups, artists and non-artists with all levels of skill and experience and include writing workshops, gallery tours, a summer theatre institute and more.

Through our artist residency program we work with artists in all stages of their career for extended periods and emphasize the process of art making.

We also encourage performing, visual, theatre and jazz artists who are interested in working with Intersection to submit your work.
